Department of Labor and Employment, together with the People’s Champ Manny Pacquiao and Alaxan FR launched The Search for the Toughest Jobs Philippines last May 26, 2010. The search was created to honor Filipino men and women who face the challenges of their jobs with pride, resiliency and toughness. Atty. Allan Montaño, National President for Federation of Free Workers (FFW) mentioned that the project is also to recognize the need for protection on those hard or tough jobs.

"The labor sector requires enhanced support from the DOLE and all other sectors and it is in the spirit of partnership between the private and public sector that will create solutions and opportunities for human capability and development." - Undersecretary Rosalinda Baldoz, Cluster Head of Labor Relations

The search is open to all working Filipinos and will run from May 26, 2010 to August 21, 2010. Each participant must log on to www.toughjobsphilippines.com, register and upload a picture explaining why they have the toughest jobs. Entry who gets the most number of votes online will win the competition and will bring home a trophy and cash prize.

Manny Pacquiao is indeed the best model for this project for he takes pain as part of his job and what else could be better than Alaxan to take that pain away? Alaxan FR contains Ibuprofen and Paracetamol, which is two of the most widely used and trusted pain relievers by doctors worldwide. It is used for the relief of mild to moderately severe pain of musculoskeletal origin. You won’t have the pain in looking for it, because it is available at leading drugstores and supermarkets. Aside from Manny Pacquiao endorsing it, relatives and friends had given me good testimonials. So when I had a headache after the event, I tried it and it worked – headache gone.

It was such an honor for me as a blogger to be invited during the launch of this project. I could not help but think, that bloggers deserves to be nominated as one having a tough job for we are considered as the new media, and we have to deal with most of the stressful things media does. Unlike traditional media, where they would have cameraman, researcher and a host for one event, a blogger could simply be a package all in one; we are our own cameraman, researcher and host. I remember when I joined my friends who are a travel bloggers in one of their adventures in discovering places to promote tourism in the Philippines. We climbed a hilltop with an almost-unbearable heat of the sun to have a picture of that beautiful spot. Even tougher my friends really went to the edge to have a better view, without any safety harness on them and just a simple wrong move could cause them their lives. I was just looking at them and couldn’t go to the edge in fear of heights and thinking if we have insurance if ever something bad happens. I guess my friends are tougher than I was and thankfully everyone was safe after that adventure, plus a smile being delivered to our audience whoever found those priceless pictures taken by my fearless blogger friends.

Though a bloggers job could be tough, I guess a doctor’s job is even tougher. What could be a tougher job than holding someone’s life in your own hands and dealing with the pain of losing it if things didn’t turn out as you expected? As I have watched a TV series about doctor’s last week, a surgeon was even blamed for a death of a persons loved one and in the process killed all other surgeons he could find in revenge. I know it was just a TV series, but it is not far from reality. Doctors do get blamed for the death of someone, even if they had tried their best to save every life they could. Tough isn’t it?

To those people, this is what I can say:
Now that you are earning more than you were earning there you are so proud to even appreciate everything that company had done to you. No one is perfect and I guess same goes for companies, specially those ones that are new. I am not saying I have no complaints, it is just that – I appreciate that if not for that company, I wouldn’t know the things I know now that puts food into my mouth. For that I am thankful.

It’s just sad to know people like this exists – as they say “Ang di marunong lumingon sa pinanggalingan, di pararating sa paroroonan.”

Good luck to the wealth you have now.

The 2nd night, I took my Mom’s advice – I didn’t drink coffee. I keep on going to the washroom to wash my face whenever I feel sleepy. The morning, I told my Mom and she said, “You will damage your eye.”

The 3rd night, I don’t know what to do to keep me awake – Good thing I found a video that would make me laugh and somehow remove sleepiness. But that won’t last long, so I mixed it with coffee and face wash.

A week after my night duty, I could not drink coffee because my cholesterol level is boosting up and it might be the one causing it. I was having a headache, but still have the energy to work.

I finally have a solution to my problem. A colleague Sarah suggested that I should take a nap during our 1 hour rest period, because it is what she is doing. This has been a good solution, it could keep me up the whole working hours. The nap really helped.

When Friday came, I never thought that we would enjoy it. But, when we played it, I just can’t stop myself from laughing. It is just a fun game.

So, I was excited to see how was the game for our co-employee’s on the other side of the globe. When I saw the video, I was really shocked about the EGGPLANT!

Why?

I didn’t know that the US have that HUGE eggplant!

So, we used the oriental eggplant, while the team we had in the US used the biggest eggplant on the picture.

I could even laugh by just watching the pictures we had. It is really a fun game and I guess you should try it during your Team Building.

Well, it just happened to me. Most of the time I imagine things before I go to sleep, but this time I am busy but it entered my thoughts. I guess I am getting crazy, I am creating this world on my imagination.

May it not get the most of me … IMAGINATION … just stick to being one

He says his salary is Php 30,000 as one of the web developers. Please check the site, it is not even fixed! He said that they are busy getting money from the donations from the calamity that just happened. But honestly, even before the storm, the site has a lot of errors.

I confronted him asking that for 30K a month, what are they doing that the site is not fixed. Well, he admitted … they do friendster, chat, etc. BUT NOT WORK!

Well, our web developer here in the company have a salary of just Php 12K/month, but I coud say that their work is worth to be proud of.

I am just pissed that these Government employees are abusing their position and not doing their job well. THIS IS WHERE OUR TAXES GO?
